April is a great month! Spring has gained it's momentum, next stop summer. It's a wonderful time for art and photography. The whole countryside is changing dramatically, all that was needed was a smile from the sun to warm the earth, then everything bursts into colour. It's a time of small dramas like the hawthorn buds above. Depending where you are, you can see these buds throughout the month. But this phase, the tiny flecks of white, is very brief. Within a day they have turned into blossom and you've missed the magic.

  1. Beautiful ... Loving the bokeh in the first photo, like droplets of sunlight, and I am lost in the blue sky in the second photo.

  2. I've never seen a hawthorn bud before, but am glad to see them for the first time through your eyes. I doubt I'll ever see them looking better than this, paused yet full of spring's momentum. Thank you for being vigilant about stalking the magic.

  3. I haven't forgotten about you and your wonderful photography. One of these days I am going to treat myself to some of your work. One of these days :)

  4. Wonderful photos.

We are lucky enough (as an arborist has told us) to have native hawthorn on our property. I should walk up and see if ours have reached this stage. Spring is desperately trying to come, but winter won't quite let go.
